Verizon Fios User Reviews

Verizon FiOS is good for watching normal and the limited number of HD channels they provide as part of their basic package. The problems when we try to watch VOD and with the internet. VOD and internet drop out for no reason. We have had technicians at the house four times with no success. The techs changed out random parts wiht no success. We are just about to go back to cable.

I would NOT recommend Verizon FiOS to anyone that wants VOD and/or internet service. Stay with cable!

Installer did not port number like I requested. I was told to operate any other tv except for the on on the DVR I would have to purchase boxes for each outlet. On day 2 the internet did not work anymore. Sorry Verizon you are still subpar I should have never tried you again.

I have it now. DO NOT TRUST THEM. 2 years ago I had it and left it because of poor service. A rep came to the door and said they had fixed it. HA. My phone quality is terrible, hard to hear though it was fine with other providers. They give channels on the lowest tier that they do not give you on the middle tier, BBC America. BBC World News, CCTV news, Family Net and so on. Want it? Move up to the higher priced tier. I have received more junk phone calls in the last 10 days than in the last 2 years. I am stuck for two years to get the price I am paying. Be warned.

I have tried Verizon . Verizon very good service customer service and billing was absolutely horrible advertise an all-in-one billing service which did not work then they started billing me for three things that I did not request when I asked them why my bill was so high they told me was because of These services That I did not request This took a long time to resolve talking to many people on the phone just not worth The aggravation this is a bigger headache than anyone needs. Do yourself a favor and try to find another cable service I have tried all types of cable service the best cable service I found was DirecTV unfortunately I cannot use them because I have too many trees in my area so there high-definition channels would not come in. Now I have rcn cable seems to be a good happy medium I've been with RCN probably for about two years and I've had no problems up to this point. My advice to you is do your research.

Yes, it is the most worthless product ever. Verizon says you get internet, tv and phone for $99 per month!! this is a lie! have received bills of 157, 127, 1nd 137, for three different months!! When contacting verizon their customer service is a disastor, they dont know anything and cannot answer why they just BS you and hope you go away!!!! DO NOT ORDER THIS PRODUCT....BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH VERIZON!!!!!

Fios was great when it worked. However, for six months my tv skipped or froze every time I tried to watch it. I was constantly restarting my cable box. I contacted Verizon by phone several times and by internet at least three times. I requested a new box but was told I did not need one. Finally, I threatened to cancel my service and was offered a new box – worked immediately and perfectly. I would have remained a loyal customer and forgotten about the six frustrating months of not being able to watch shows I enjoy on my tv, but when I contacted Verizon about some sort of credit, they offered me only a nominal credit. I wasted hundreds of dollars on a service that didn’t work, tried multiple times to have the service fixed and then was offered only a nominal credit – I will be cancelling my service soon and will not use Verizon FIOS again.

FIOS is good because its fiber optics. I'd say the service provided by Verizon is better than average when it comes to cable/tv/satellite providers. The downside to FIOS is that it's Verizon = huge company, poor customer service.

I had Comcast, but I switched to Fios when it came to my neighborhood. I got a great deal, and all my services are bundled into one bill. I got an install date when I signed up but they did not meet that date. Since I had to extend my comcast service, Verizon offered to pay off my contract with comcast.

I have not had any problems with my fios service so I don't know how quick they'd be able to fix something if it did go wrong. I spoke with technical support a couple times on the phone which was frustrating. The phone options and menus and departments and hold times bring out the worst in people. Luckily the person that resolved my issue was friendly and helpful.

I have no plans to go back to Comcast because their customer service was much worse. For Verizon Fios in my opinion, the positives outweigh the negatives. There are some hidden fees, but again I had the same with Comcast in my area.

I love my fios, fast and reliable. But just pray you don't need to call customer service for anything. You'll be on hold and transferred 20 times while you explain your situation to 10 different people. Headache!

This is the most comprehensive list i have found regarding Fios availability. www.consumerfiber.com/fios-availability I wonder how they pick the cities. I am glad to have it in upstate NY when I know a lot of big cities still do not have it.

We loved having Fios -- had the triple play. Lightning fast speed. But now we moved to a city that does not have it yet. Come on Verizon. How do we find out where and when they are expanding to next?

Verizon Fios Overview

Verizon Fios is the latest generation of wired broadband technology. In many of Verizon's market areas (where they are the local phone company), the company has spent $20 billion over the last few years to replace their network with "Fios".

Essentially Fios is fiber optic cables that provides very high speed internet, TV service, and digital phone service. In stead of copper phone lines or copper coaxial cable, Fios uses advanced fiber-optics. Since fiber has much higher bandwidth capacity than copper cables, Verizon can now offer much higher speeds, and lots of high definition channels.

Since Verizon has invested so much in their Fios build out, they're trying hard to get customers on dsl or cable to switch to Fios so they can begin to recoup their investment. This is evident by the very competitive promotions and deals they're offering to new customers.

Aside from offering some of the fastest upload/download speeds available to residential consumers, and more HD channels than most cable providers, Verizon Fios service has received top rankings from J.D. Power & Associates multiple times.
