Bogus that the new versions come out so frequently. I bought version 6 upgrade in July since I needed it for Lion OS. They offered upgrade protection that gets you free upgrades, but it was an extra $50! I bought ver 6 a few days before ver 7 was released.
At least Parallels 6.0 works fine enough. It pays to upgrade to an SSD for the speed improvement. Otherwise virtualization software gets a little heavy on the hard drive and RAM.

I installed Parallels Desktop on my Mac Book so that I could run windows programs for work. Everything pretty much works smoothly, it does however take up a good amount of computer resources (RAM), so be sure to have at least 4GB of RAM. The "Coherence" mode is pretty cool - your windows programs run right inside OS X as if they were OS X programs. The only visible difference is the "x" and minimize buttons on the window itself.
Also, in case you were wondering, you need to install Windows on the virtual drive created by Parallels, so you'll need a legit Windows license to make it work.
